HYBRID ERTIGA - CHIẾC XE TRANG BỊ KHỐI PIN LITHIUM-ION BỀN BỈ GIÁ TỐT NHẤT VIỆT NAM

Many people who are choosing to buy a hybrid car are wondering if the lithium-ion battery on the Hybrid Ertiga is durable and if the replacement cost is expensive?

If understood and used properly, the lithium-ion battery block on the Hybrid Ertiga has a long lifespan of up to 10 years.

Hybrid car batteries are a matter of concern for global users, due to the nature of the important energy storage block in the car, and frequent charging and discharging in harsh weather conditions, from hot places above 40 degrees Celsius to cold places below zero degrees Celsius, so manufacturers are focusing their research resources on batteries, especially hybrid car batteries.

What is superior about lithium-ion battery technology on Hybrid Ertiga?

Since 2016, Suzuki Japan has applied a new technology to the battery pack of the hybrid models that the company will launch. The technology called SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) was initially applied to Suzuki's global models such as Swift, Vitara, S-cross and Ignis, and in 2020 was applied to the best-selling 7-seater model in Asia - the Hybrid Ertiga.

Explaining the choice of lithium-ion (also known as Li-ion) battery technology for their hybrid vehicles, Suzuki engineers said that Li-ion is an advanced battery technology, more advanced than the traditional NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) battery type equipped on the Toyota Cross Hybrid. The proof is that Li-ion technology is chosen by many luxury brands such as Mercedes-Benz or BMW.

New SHVS technology equipped on Suzuki Hybrid Ertiga helps the car save fuel and operate efficiently.

According to LG Chemical's research, the difference between NiMH batteries and Li-ion batteries is reflected in many aspects. First of all, in terms of price, NiMH batteries are cheaper than Li-ion batteries. In terms of weight, NiMH batteries require larger and heavier battery pack sizes than Li-ion batteries.

According to LG Chemical's research, the difference between NiMH and Li-ion batteries is reflected in many aspects. First of all, in terms of price, NiMH batteries are cheaper than Li-ion batteries. In terms of weight, NiMH batteries require larger and heavier battery packs than Li-ion batteries.

According to the above research, Li-ion batteries have a durability of about 7 years, proven to be twice as durable as NiMH batteries because each Li-ion battery has a charging control circuit and battery protection. Therefore, Li-ion batteries are now used more and more, gradually taking over the position of reserve energy source in hybrid vehicles and even pure electric vehicles.

Practical in both operation and cost

On the Ertiga Hybrid, the Li-ion battery located under the driver's seat has a voltage of 12V with a capacity of 6Ah, supplying power to the integrated starter generator (ISG) to support the vehicle when accelerating and climbing slopes. In addition, the energy from the Li-ion battery also supports restarting the engine when the control system turns off the engine when the vehicle is idling at a red light or in a traffic jam. When the vehicle goes downhill, the recovered energy will be recharged into the battery located under the driver's seat. More specifically, the selling price of this battery in Vietnam is only about 30 million VND. According to estimates, this is a good price, only about 1/3 of the battery price of other car models on the market, in addition, the battery warranty period is also significantly longer, committed by Suzuki with a 5-year warranty policy (or 100,000km, whichever comes first).

Hybrid Ertiga not only creates positive changes in cost and experience, but also has a positive impact on the environment.

Compared to the batteries of other hybrid cars on the market such as Toyota Cross Hybrid (VND 99 million), Nissan Kicks (VND 130 million), and even some batteries cost up to nearly VND 1 billion (the battery of Mercedes-Benz S400 Hybrid costs VND 935 million), the VND 30 million Li-ion battery of Hybrid Ertiga is holding the No. 1 position in terms of price.

The actual experience of customers who bought Hybrid Ertiga from the time of launch (October 2022) until now, after nearly half a year of use, most car owners feel that the battery on Hybrid Ertiga helps save fuel, drive smoother, reduce noise when starting or accelerating, and at the same time helps the car accelerate better than cars in the same segment using 1.5L engines when needing to overcome obstacles or overtake other cars. In addition, the battery has a smart design in that it does not affect the operation of the car, meaning the car still operates normally even when the Li-ion battery runs out of power or is having problems. Therefore, Hybrid Ertiga users do not need to worry in case the battery has a problem and cannot operate normally. And this Li-ion battery also does not require any special maintenance regime different from normal gasoline cars.

Fuel consumption is just over 5L/100km, the gasoline engine automatically turns off when braking at red lights, helping the 7-seat Hybrid Ertiga save the most fuel in the segment. Therefore, many large tourist areas such as Phu Quoc Island, Ha Long or Da Nang, many service drivers are looking to change their existing cars to the popular MPV Hybrid Ertiga, because the more you drive, the more fuel you save thanks to the "small but powerful" battery located right under the driver's seat.

In March, Vietnam Suzuki is offering a 50% registration fee support program for customers buying Hybrid Ertiga up to 30 million VND. The price is more attractive than cars using only conventional gasoline engines. Details of the promotion program can be found here.
